Where Your Donations Go
With your help, we have fully funded the Barry Winovich Endowed Chair for ALS Research at The Lerner Research Institute of The Cleveland Clinic.
We are working with the ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter as the recipient of our fundraising efforts in support of ALSA research projects.
A few years ago, Bright Side and The ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter joined forces on research fundraising to further support our shared vision to achieve of a world without ALS. By choosing to invest in this effort, you become part of the largest and most cutting edge ALS research program in the world. From harnessing innovative ideas, to translating concepts to therapies, to advancing treatments to people living with ALS – The ALS Association’s collaborative and global approach to funding research continues to lead to significant discoveries by top ALS scientists around the world.
The Association recently launched a new, interactive research website, www.alsa.org/research. Through this site, visitors can easily access information on every project funded by The Association, as well as explore available clinical trials throughout the world. We encourage you to check it out.
Bright Side gifts to the Northern Ohio Chapter have a return on investment of nearly 1.5. All research gifts generated by Association Chapters receive a credit of 46.7% on its national Association revenue sharing, and research contributions are exempt from revenue sharing. That savings is reinvested in the Chapter’s care services programs, such as the respite reimbursement, ALS Care Grant to families, and communication device and equipment loan program.
Let’s look at the specific impact of a $100 gift:
ALS Association Research support $100.00
Chapter revenue share credit (46.7%) $ 46.70
Total value of gift to those living with ALS $146.70
Your research gift to Bright Side of the Road supports not only ALS research dollar for dollar, but also provides programs and support for those living with ALS right now, including Bright Side’s Founder, Barry Winovich, and his college roommate, Treg Charlton.
Whatever your reasons, THANK YOU for supporting our mission to leave ALS better than we found it. Our funds are raised through a series of special events and individual and corporate donations.
With your help, Bright Side of the Road has donated $165,842 to The ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter since 2011.
